Pampas grass (Cortaderia)

Naturally produced in Ecuador.

Pampas (called ‘sigse’ by the locals) grows frequently in the Andes Mountains along streams, forest edges and cliffs. The grasses have been used as decorations all over the world for decades.

Since Pampas grass does not grow in greenhouses, the plumes are harvested and sold by local residents. This stimulates the population to leave the Cortaderia in its natural element, to maintain it well and to harvest it with optimal preservation of the plant and its environment.
